On September 13th, Amber Womack brings her one-woman cabaret “Should I Be Sweet?” to Jolly’s Dueling Piano Bar in the heart of Philadelphia’s Center City as part of the Philly Fringe Festival. Amber recently debuted this show at the famed NYC nightclub Don’t Tell Mama to a standing room only crowd.

Amber grew up on country and gospel music in Fort Worth, Texas. Touring with a gospel trio starting at 12, Amber honed her performing skills. College expanded her musical horizons to include musical theatre and opera – a whole new world of music. After getting her bachelor’s degree in voice performance from Texas Wesleyan University, Amber moved to Philadelphia for further voice study, graduating with a Master’s in voice performance from Temple University. The siren song of NYC began calling during her time at Temple. Amber answered the call with weekend trips on Amtrak for auditions and soaking in Broadway shows and opera performances. She was hooked and made the permanent move to the Big Apple after graduation.

Amber draws on her musical roots–gospel, country, pop, standards, and musical theatre–to tell the tale of her life’s journey to the Big Apple. She is excited to be able to offer this show as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
